Love: The Most Important Spiritual Law

Love—true, unconditional love—is the most important spiritual law. It is a love that has no motivation other than love. You are not waiting for a payback. You care not whether that person acknowledges—or even notices—the love that you’ve shown them. You love that person even when (in the eyes of most people) that person is the most unlovable.
You may think that this kind of love is some “airy fairy” fantasy and that you could never attain it. I know that I’ve felt like that, and still do—many times.
But I try to remember that every person on the planet IS love. God is love and we, in our spiritual essence, is love as well. This holds true regardless of our actions or inactions. It holds true regardless of our financial or social standing. It hold true regardless of our religious, or non-religious, affiliations.
When Mother Theresa cared for the poor and the sick of Calcutta, she did not see poor and sick people. She said that she saw “Jesus in all of his distressing disguises.”
In a few days, I will be blogging about someone who is, in my estimation, the third greatest spiritual guru of the 21st Century—Marianne Williamson. This amazing woman not only teaches about the miraculous power of love as presented within the pages of A Course in Miracles—she truly IS love. Any time I see her speak, I can literally feel the love radiating from her.
We can all learn from her.

I agree, Michelle, and I have the hardest time loving myself. I’m way to critical of everything about ME, lol.
